The Rocky Mountain Energy Forum is a growing community of concerned citizens committed to two goals – achieving energy security for our country and holding our elected officials more accountable in shaping energy policies.

We have come together to better educate ourselves about energy issues and to support a balanced approach to increasing American supplies of energy.

We support expanded conservation efforts, development of renewable energy sources and increased domestic exploration of traditional, non-renewable energy sources.

If you believe strongly that we must address the growing challenge of energy security through a non-partisan comprehensive, balanced approach, then the  Rocky Mountain Energy Forum is your community.

Colorado Energy Quick Facts:

• Colorado's crude oil production quadrupled from 2010 to 2015 with the increased use of directional drilling and hydraulic fracturing technologies.
• Colorado is among the major natural gas-producing states in the nation.
• Coal and natural gas are the primary fuels used to generate electricity in Colorado. Coal-fired power plants provide about three-fifths of net generation, and natural gas provides more than one-fifth. Electricity from renewable sources has tripled since 2007, to more than one-sixth of net electricity generation in 2015, almost all because of increased wind generation.  
• Colorado's vast fossil fuel resources include the Niobrara Shale, with resource estimates running as high as 2 billion barrels of oil.
